a year of buying records - a mix
Hi again, and happy new year. Here’s hoping it’ll be better than the last one. This morning I'm recovering from a delightful NYE party that my friend Devon threw. I had exactly two drinks and spent most of the night tending to a pizza oven, which is one of my happiest places. Despite my sobriety, I am quite tired, so I'm going to keep the text short and get to the point: I recorded a mix yesterday featuring some of my favorite records I bought in 2025, and I'm sharing it here. I'll be up front about the fact that there are some funny little mixing moments here and there, but that's vinyl for you, and I'm embracing imperfection; if I don't, I'll never get anything done. It's about the music, anyway.
It starts with some downtempo stuff and works its way into dancier territory by the end. There’s a few new releases, some classics I’ve had my eye on for years, and some dollar-bin surprises that I kept coming back to.
